'The Find The Housing Works Book of Decorating with Thrift Shop Treasures, Flea Market Objects and Vintage Details'
Just like I can't pass a good flea market, I couldn't resist this book. It is based on The Housing Works Thrift Shops in New York City. They carry plenty of bargains for the customers, have the Second Chance Life Job Training program and a have a charity to end AIDS by providing access to care and treatment. The author, Stan Williams, is very skilled in describing his history of scouring yard sales. It made me wish I could attend some sales, flea markets, auctions...as I have in my past. As in my case, his love of the hunt was something he learned from family members. The book includes a thrift shopping kit list and rules for thrifting to help in the hunt. The different sections include furniture, accessories, dining and entertaining, sensational small spaces and escapes. He showcases unexpected ways to make a statement.
This photo made me long for my beautiful shop back. I adored creating lovely vignettes like this. They appear so easily put together; little do people know how some of us fuss so much to get it just right.
I love the way this home is put together. It has all the right elements in all the right places with a bit of colour to set it off. Love it!
