I am so happy that we have a house with a fireplace again. It was already painted white when we bought the house and that is okay. Normally I'm not a huge fan of painting brick though. The mantle is quite substantial and also painted white. Our living room does not receive a lot of natural light so having a lot of white surfaces helps in brightening it up. As with the rest of our house, our mantle is full of meaningful and loved pieces. The photos include Jeff and I on a road trip, Jeff's parents on their wedding day and my parents in their younger years. Under the glass cloche is a bird's nest that my daughter found and I put the classic 'Love' in it. This house is definitely our little love nest.
The larger black and white photo is a photograph taken by my daughter of an old sailboat that once sat in our backyard at our previous house. This photo was part of an exhibit at Chatham-Kent's Art Space Art Gallery.
The four photographs framed in the largest frame are from another of Jeff and I's adventures to Toronto before we lived here. I believe that art should really mean something to the owner.
